Suntech Power (chinesisch 尚德 Shàngdé) (NYSE: STP) ist der weltgrößte Produzent von Photovoltaikmodulen aus kristallinem Silizium.[2] Die Firma wurde 2001 von Zhengrong Shi gegründet, ihr Sitz ist Wuxi in China. Sie erreichte 2009 eine Produktions-Kapazität von 1 GW jährlich.

Umweltschutz

Das Unternehmen verfügt seit September 2006 über die ISO 14001-Zertifizierung zum Umweltmanagement und Arbeitsschutz. Suntech Power ist Mitglied bei PV Cycle. Detaillierte Informationen über das Umweltmanagementsystem und über Ziele in diesem Bereich werden nicht publiziert. Auch fehlen Informationen zu den Umweltstandards bei den Beteiligungen. Nach dem Skandal um die Reinstsiliziumfabrik des Hauptzulieferers Luoyang Zhonggui im Jahr 2008, welche Umweltgifte unsachgemäß entsorgte, sind die jetzigen Zulieferer für Silizium Asia Silicon Co und MEMC im Arbeits- und Umweltschutzbereich gut aufgestellt.
