Vang Pao

Vang Pao (Hmong: Vaj Pov, * 1929 in Nong Het, Provinz Xiangkhouang; † 6. Januar 2011 in Clovis, Kalifornien[1]) war ein laotischer General, der in der Royal Lao Army diente und während des Vietnamkriegs eng mit der US-Regierung zusammenarbeitete. Er gehörte zur Minderheit der Hmong und war in den USA ein Führer der Hmong American community.

Pao starb im Januar 2011 in Kalifornien an einer Lungenentzündung[1]. Einer Bitte seiner Familie nach einer Ausnahmegenehmigung für ein Begräbnis auf dem amerikanischen Nationalfriedhof in Arlington wurde nicht entsprochen.[2]
