Das DCV (Deep Computing Visualization) von IBM stellt eine Mischung aus Thin Client und Thick Client dar. Das typische Element eines Thin Clients ist, dass per VNC (o.ä.) Daten an einen Client übertragen werden. Diese Bilddaten sind in eine auf Client-Seite laufende (typisch für Thick Client) Benutzungsoberfläche eingebunden, mit deren Hilfe das Bild manipuliert werden kann.
Diese Manipulationen werden in Echtzeit durch den Server ausgeführt und neue Bilddaten werden an den Client gesendet.
Somit würden sich zum Beispiel ganze CAD-Konstruktionen erstellen lassen, ohne dass auf dem eigenen Rechner leistungshungrige CAD-Software laufen muss. Auch vorstellbar wäre ein solcher Einsatz auf PDAs.
Eine lauffähige Version der Software wurde auf der CeBit 2005 vorgestellt.
