β Cephei (Beta Cephei) ist ein Stern im Sternbild Kepheus. Er trägt den historischen Eigennamen Alfirk (arabisch ‏الفرق‎, DMG al-Firq).

Beta Cephei ist der Prototyp einer Klasse pulsationsveränderlicher Sterne, der sogenannten Beta-Cephei-Sterne. Seine Helligkeit schwankt mit einer Periode von 0,1904844 Tagen zwischen +3,15m und +3,21m. Er weist eine Oberflächtemperatur von ca. 14.600 Kelvin auf und gehört somit der Spektralklasse B2 an. Aus diesen Daten ließ sich errechnen, dass Beta Cephei den 5,5 fachen Durchmesser unserer Sonne hat. Er ist knapp 700 Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt.
