Ida Applebroog

Ida Applebroog (* 11. November 1929 in Bronx, New York) ist eine US-amerikanische Bildhauerin und Malerin.

Leben

Applebroog studierte zwischen 1947 bis 1950 an der New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Science und erhielt die Ehrendoktorwürde der School of Art Institute of Chicago, wo sie 1966 bis 1968 auch unterrichtete. Die nächsten vier Jahre arbeitete Applebroog als freie Bildhauerin, bevor sie 1974 einen Lehrauftrag an der University of California in San Diego annahm. Zur selben Zeit fand sie ihre Leidenschaft in der Malerei. Heute lebt und arbeitet sie in New York City.

1998 war sie MacArthur Fellow.
