Ipath

Der Name IPath leitet sich aus den Wörtern Internet und Pathologie ab. Ipath wurde 2001 in Basel vorgestellt, und ist eine Telepathologieplattform, welche Ärzten erlaubt, Expertenmeinungen von Pathologen weltweit einzuholen. Das System ist webbasiert, kann elektronisch steuerbare Mikroskope ansprechen, und ist durch die Client-Server-Architektur problemlos in fast jeder IT-Infrastruktur einsetzbar. Ein weiterer großer Vorteil ist das OpenSource-Prinzip, welches dieses Projekt verfolgt, um auch Entwicklungsländern den Zugang zu Expertenknowhow zu ermöglichen.
