John Goldthorpe

John Harry Goldthorpe (* 1935 in Großbritannien) ist ein Gesellschaftstheoretiker. Er unterschied zwei Dimensionen zur Beschreibung der Gesellschaft:

  • Verhältnis zum Arbeitsmarkt (Marktlage)
  • Arbeitssituation von Arbeitskraftanbietern

Er unterschied keine hierarchischen Klassen sondern Kategorien mit unterschiedlichen Lebenschancen.

Er entwickelte ein Modell der beruflichen Gliederung, das sogenannte Goldthorpe-Klassenschema (engl. Goldthorpe class schema, auch Erikson, Goldthorpe, Portocarero, kurz EGP).
