Johnny „Hammond“ Smith (* 16. Dezember 1933 in Louisville, Kentucky; † 4. Juni 1997) ist ein US-amerikanischer Jazzmusiker und -komponist.

Neben Jimmy Smith und Dr. Lonnie Smith ist John Robert, genannt Johnny Hammond Smith der dritte der Schmidt-Orgler. Die Hammond-B3-Orgel ist sein Instrument. Entdeckt hat er sie für sich, als er Wild Bill Davis hörte. Mit ihr begleitete er unter anderem Nancy Wilson. Nach dem Umzug nach New York City spielte er mit eigenen kleinen Formationen in den Clubs. Aber erst der Vertrag bei Prestige, die ihn als Modernisten auf dem New Jazz Label veröffentlichten, brachte ihm einige Anerkennung. Trotzdem: sein Beitrag zur Jazzhistorie ist bedeutend geringer als die seiner „Namensvettern“, auch wenn der Ausstoß an LPs überraschend umfangreich ist. Einiges ist inzwischen auch auf CDs erschienen. 1960 wirkte er bei Lem Winchesters Album Another Opus mit.
