José Vianna da Motta (urspr. Schreibweise Viana da Mota, * 22. April 1868 auf São Tomé ; † 1. Juni 1948 in Lissabon) war ein portugiesischer Pianist und Komponist.

Vianna da Motta studierte Klavier und Komposition von 1875 bis 1881 am Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Lissabon. 1882 wechselte er nach Berlin zu Xaver und Philipp Scharwenka, 1885 zu Franz Liszt nach Weimar (einer von Liszts letzten Schülern) und 1887 zu Hans von Bülow nach Frankfurt am Main.

Vianna da Motta trat in der Folge als Pianist auf und war von 1915 bis 1917 Leiter der Meisterklasse am Konservatorium in Genf in der Nachfolge von Bernhard Stavenhagen. Von 1919 bis 1938 war er Direktor des Conservatorio Nacional in Lissabon.

Von Vianna da Mottas Kompositionen, insbesondere der Symphonie Patria, op 13, den Werken für Klavier und Orchester und Werken für Klavier solo, sind in den vergangenen Jahren einige auf CD eingespielt worden.

Mottas Briefwechsel mit Ferruccio Busoni wurde veröffentlicht, ebenso Mottas Erinnerungen an Hans von Bülows Meisterklasse und ein Buch über deutsche Musik und Musiker.
