Joseph Francis Rummel

Joseph Francis Rummel (* als Joseph Rummel am 14. Oktober 1876 in Steinmauern, Landkreis Rastatt, Deutschland; † 8. November 1964) war Erzbischof von New Orleans.

Leben

Joseph Francis Rummel empfing am 24. Mai 1902 die Priesterweihe für das Bistum New York, USA. 1928 ernannte ihn Papst Pius XI. zum Bischof von Omaha in Nebraska. Die Bischofsweihe am 29. Mai 1928 spendete ihm der Erzbischof von New York Patrick Joseph Kardinal Hayes; Mitkonsekratoren waren Thomas Edmund Molloy, Bischof von Brooklyn, und John Joseph Dunn, Weihbischof in New York. 1935 ernannte ihn Papst Pius XI. zum Erzbischof von New Orleans. Er starb im Bischofsamt.
