Joy to the world

Joy to the World ist eines der beliebtesten und bekanntesten Weihnachtslieder aus dem angelsächsischen Sprachraum.

Den Text verfasste Isaac Watts (1674–1748) im Jahre 1719 nach einem Psalm König Davids. Die Musik basiert auf der Komposition "Tröstet Zion" im Messias von Georg Friedrich Händel (1685–1759), und wurde von Lowell Mason (1792–1872) im Jahre 1836 arrangiert.

Den Titel Joy to the World nahmen zahlreiche Größen des Musikgeschäfts in ihre jeweiligen Christmas-Alben auf.
