Der Lifebelt (Synonym Harness) ist ein Gurtgeschirr für die Sicherung von Seeleuten an Bord eines Wasserfahrzeuges.

Das Geschirr besteht aus Gurten, die unter den Achseln und unter dem Schritt durchgeführt und am Körper befestigt werden. Am Gurtgeschirr wird das eine Ende einer Sorgleine (einem Tampen bzw. kurzen Seil) befestigt, deren anderes Ende mittels Karabinerhaken an Schiffsteilen eingehakt werden kann. Dadurch soll verhindert werden, dass eine Person über Bord fällt oder beim Klettern in der Takelage herabstürzt.

Lifebelts werden insbesondere bei schwerer See sowie bei alleinigem Aufenthalt an Bord oder bei Arbeiten in der Takelage angelegt. Wenn der Lifebelt benutzt wird, um ein Überbordgehen zu verhindern, wird er oft sicherheitshalber zusammen mit einer Rettungsweste getragen. Teurere Ausführungen von Lifebelts sind direkt mit sich bei Wasserkontakt automatisch aufblasenden Rettungswesten verbunden.
