Mark Grigoryevich Krein

Mark Grigorjewitsch Krein (russisch Марк Григорьевич Крейн; * 3. April 1907 in Kiew; † 17. Oktober 1989 in Odessa) war ein sowjetischer Mathematiker.

Er war einer der Hauptvertreter der sowjetischen Mathematik. Sein Hauptarbeitsgebiet war die Funktionalanalysis, insbesondere die Operatortheorie und die Theorie der Differentialgleichungen.

Im Alter von 17 Jahren ging er nach Odessa. Da er ein Jude war, litt unter antisemitischen Diskriminierungen. Im Jahr 1982 erhielt er den Wolf-Preis, zusammen mit Hassler Whitney.

Mit seinem Namen verbunden sind unter anderem: Tannaka-Krein-Dualität, der Satz von Krein-Milman, Kreinräume.
