Die Organisation Ostkaribischer Staaten (englisch: Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States) (OECS) ist ein supranationaler Staatenbund.
Ziele
- Zusammenarbeit auf regionaler und internationaler Ebene
- Einheit zwischen den Mitgliedstaaten
- Verteidigung der Eigenstaatlichkeit, der Unverletzlichkeit des Gebietes sowie der Unabhängigkeit;
- Vereinheitlichung der Außenpolitiken der Mitgliedstaaten
- Wirtschaftszusammenführung zwischen den Mitgliedstaaten
Die Staaten der OECS haben mit dem Ostkaribischen Dollar eine gemeinsame Währung, ausgenommen die Britischen Jungferninseln - dort ist seit 1959 der US-Dollar die offizielle Währung. Der Ostkaribische Dollar ist seit 1976 zum Kurs von 1 US$ = 2,70 EC$ an den US-Dollar gebunden.
