Petrof

Petrof ist der Name einer Klavierfabrik in Hradec Králové (Königgrätz) in Tschechien. 1864 hatte Antonín Petrof (1839-1915) das Unternehmen gegründet. 1948 wurde die Firma verstaatlicht. Die Fabrik stellt auch Pianos unter anderen Markennamen her. So produzierte Petrof beispielsweise die Marke Weinbach im Zweigwerk Jiříkov (Georgswalde). Dort hatte bis zum Zweiten Weltkrieg eine Fabrik der Firma August Förster bestanden, die in Löbau in Sachsen ihr Hauptwerk hat. Petrof produziert heute unter anderem die Marke W. Hoffmann unter dem Dach von C. Bechstein. W. Hoffmann wurde 1904 in Berlin gegründet und wird heute von Bechstein unter dem Slogan „Made in Europe“ als mittelpreisige Alternative zu asiatischen Instrumenten vertrieben.

Heute ist das Unternehmen Petrof, das seit 2001 zwei Schwestern der Familie Petrof gehört, stückzahlenmäßig die größte Klavierfabrik in Europa. In den letzten Jahren bemühte sich Petrof auch um Innovationen im Klavierbau. So entwickelte das Unternehmen eine Vorrichtung, um mittels einstellbarer Magnete das sogenannte Spielgewicht der Tasten der Flügelmechanik justieren und nach den Präferenzen eines Pianisten einstellen zu können.
