Presente Litany

Presente Litany („Anwesend-Litanei“) ist eine - besonders in Lateinamerika angewandte - lautstarke Protestform, bei der der Name eines Inhaftierten, Ermordeten oder Verstorbenen gerufen und im Chor von den Anwesenden mit Presente (Anwesend) beantwortet wird.

Bekannt wurde diese Protestform durch Anwesend-Litaneien beim Begräbnis von Pablo Neruda, 14 Tage nach dem chilenischen Putsch und der Ermordung des drei Jahre zuvor gewählten Präsidenten Salvador Allendes. Jährlich am 16. November werden Namen von Ermordeten vor den Toren von Fort Benning ausgerufen, welche Opfer von Absolventen des dort beheimateten Ausbildungscamps Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation sind.
