Robert Hope-Jones

Robert Hope-Jones (* 9. Februar 1859 in Hooton Grange, Cheshire, Großbritannien; † 13. September 1914 in Rochester, New York, USA) war um 1900 ein bedeutender Erfinder im Bereich Orgelbau.

In England erdachte er viele Neuerungen für die Orgel, realisierte sie aber erst, als er in den USA mit der Rudolph Wurlitzer Company zu arbeiten begann. Mit diesen Neuerungen entstand die Theater-Orgel „The Wurlitzer-Hope-Jones Unit Orchestra“, die man später nur noch „The Mighty Wurlitzer“ nannte. 1914 nahm sich Hope-Jones das Leben, jedoch nicht, ohne zuvor die Standards für die Kino- und Theater-Orgel gesetzt zu haben.
