Sompa (deutsch Sompäh) ist einer der sechs Stadtteile der estnischen Industriestadt Kohtla-Järve im Kreis Ida-Viru. Die vormals eigenständige Gemeinde wurde 1960 Kohtla-Järve eingegliedert.

Sompa wurde erstmals als Dorf 1420 urkundlich erwähnt.[1] Es wurde nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg ab 1947 als sowjetische Wohnsiedlung für die Arbeiter zweier nahegelegener Ölschiefer-Abbaugebiete errichtet, von denen eines heute noch in Betrieb ist.

Mittlerweile ist der Ort eine trostlose Geistersiedlung mit zahlreichen leerstehenden Gebäuden und verlassenen Bauruinen. In den meist abbruchreifen Häusern wohnen noch ca. 1.600 Menschen, zum größten Teil Angehörige der russischsprachigen Minderheit. Alkoholismus und Drogenkonsum sind weit verbreitet.[2]

Im Zentrum des Stadtteils befindet sich das neoklassizistische Kulturhaus im sowjetischen Stil. Es wird von einem Portikus mit breiten Säulen geschmückt.
