Stigma

Das Stigma (griechisch στíγμα, Mehrzahl Stigmata) bedeutet ‚Stich‘, ‚Punkt‘, ‚Wund-‘ oder ‚Brandmal‘ und steht im Allgemeinen für:

  • ein auffälliges, mitunter negativ bewertetes Merkmal, siehe Mal bzw. Makel (Schandfleck)
  • eine pathologisch typische körperliche Erscheinung oder Ausprägung (z. B. Leberhautzeichen)

Im Speziellen bezeichnet es:

  • ein Wundmal am Körper eines lebenden Menschen, siehe Stigmatisation
  • ein Auffälligkeitsmerkmal als Ausdruck einer Stigmatisierung (soziales Stigma, historisch auch: Schandmal)
  • ein psychosomatisches Symptom, das während der Behandlung auftreten kann, siehe Stigma (Psychoanalyse)
  • ein psychiatrisches Phänomen, das bestimmte Störungen anzeigen kann, siehe Stigma (Psychiatrie)
  • den gefäßlosen Fleck am Ovarialfollikel
  • das Sinnesorganell einiger Protisten, das bei deren Ausrichtung/Bewegung zum Licht hin (Phototaxis) mitwirkt, siehe Augenfleck
  • die Öffnung des Tracheensystems bei Gliederfüßlern, siehe Stigma (Zoologie)
  • einen Teil des Stempels einer Blüte, häufiger Narbe genannt
  • den Sklaven aufgebranntes Mal bei Griechen und Römern
