Bobcatsss

BOBCATSSS ist ein internationaler Kongress mit Themen aus der Bibliotheks- und Informationswissenschaft, der jährlich unter der Schirmherrschaft von EUCLID (European Association for Library and Information Education and Research) von ost- und westeuropäischen Studenten gemeinsam organisiert wird.

Der Name BOBCATSSS ist ein Akronym und steht für die Anfangsbuchstaben der Gründer-Städte, die das BOBCATSSS Symposium 1993 geschaffen und erstmals veranstaltet haben: Budapest, Oslo, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Tampere, Stuttgart, Szombately und Sheffield. Während der letzten Jahre haben sich weitere Städte dem BOBCATSSS-Netzwerk angeschlossen: Borås, Riga, Kharkiv, Moscow, Tallinn, Torun, Warsaw, Sofia, Ljubljana, Krakow, Bratislava und Budapest.

Das 18. BOBCATSSS-Symposium fand vom 25.-27. Januar 2010 unter dem Titel Bridging the digital divide: libraries providing access for all? in Parma, Italien stattfinden. Die Organisatoren von BOBCATSSS 2010 sind Studierende und Dozierende der University of Parma (Italien), der Manchester Metropolitan University (Großbritannien) und der Liverpool John Moores University (Großbritannien).

Das 19. BOBCATSSS-Symposium fand vom 31. Januar bis 2. Februar 2011 unter dem Motto „Finding New Ways“ in Szombathely (Ungarn) statt. Die Organisatoren waren Studierende der Fachhochschulstudiengänge Burgenland (Österreich), der University of Western Hungary (Ungarn) und des Oslo University College (Norwegen).

Das 20. BOBCATSSS-Symposium wird vom 23.-25. Januar 2012 in Amsterdam (Niederlande) stattfinden, unter dem Motto „information in e-motion“. Die Organisatoren sind Studierende der Hochschule der Medien / Stuttgart Media University (Deutschland), der Hanze University in Groningen (Niederlande) und der Hogeschool van Amsterdam (Niederlande).
