Dirk Weiler

Dirk Weiler ist ein deutscher Sänger, Schauspieler und Musicaldarsteller.

Leben

Dirk Weiler absolvierte eine Musicalausbildung an der Folkwang Hochschule und im Anschluss daran ein Aufbaustudium im Fach Tanz. Von 1992 bis 1998 arbeitete er als Steptanzlehrer an der Folkwang Hochschule Essen und war Mitglied der Tanztheater Gruppe um Claudia Lichtblau in Essen. Er lebte von 1998 bis 2008 in New York City, wo er Gesang an der Manhattan School of Music, dem City College of New York und dem Konservatorium für Musik am Brooklyn College studierte und den Grad eines Master of Music erhielt.

Hervorzuhebende Rollen sind der Macheath in der Dreigroschenoper, Psychiater in Johnny Johnson, Danilo in Die lustige Witwe, Schaunard in La Bohème und Papageno in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts Die Zauberflöte und Dutch Schultz in der Konzert Premiere von Eric Salzmann's The True Last Words Of Dutch Schultz.

Dirk Weiler wurde 1999 eingeladen, an Meisterkursen mit Walter Berry and Cord Garben teilzunehmen. Im gleichen Jahr gastierte er mit dem Kabarett Kollektif beim Internationalen Kabarettfestival in Adelaide, Australien. In New York wurde er als Weill-Interpret bekannt (Dreigroschenoper, Johnny Johnson, Wall to Wall Marathon Kurt Weill am Symphony Space New York).

Seine Lehrer waren unter anderem Judy Ann Bassing, Walter Nicks, Noelle Turner, Bennes Mardenn, Bernice Loren, Cornelius Reid, Ira Siff, Ted Puffer. Als Darsteller konnte man ihn sowohl in Musical, Oper und Operette als auch in Theaterstücken und Cabaret Shows auf Bühnen in Deutschland, New York, Australien and London sehen.

Er war einer der Gründer und später künstlerischer Leiter von thedramaloft Inc., einer Non-Profit Organisation für Entertainment Development in New York. 2008 ging er nach London und kehrte 2009 wieder nach Deutschland zurück.

Dirk Weiler arbeitet auch als Stepptanzlehrer, Regisseur und Liedinterpretations-Lehrer an verschiedenen Schulen und Universitäten in Deutschland, Großbritannien und den USA wie dem Alvin American Dance Theater, Steps on Broadway, Bridge for Dance, Rutgers University NJ und Meredith College, NC.
