Das The Regent Berlin (bis 2004: Four Seasons Berlin) ist ein 5-Sterne-Hotel am Berliner Gendarmenmarkt. Das Gebäude wurde von dem Architekten Josef Paul Kleihues gestaltet und im Stile der sogenannten kritischen Rekonstruktion realisiert. Es liegt zwischen der Behren- und der Französischen Straße, in der Charlottenstraße 49.

Entstehung und Geschichte

Das Gebäude wurde von 1993 bis 1996 von der Four Seasons Gruppe erbaut. Seit 2004 wird das Hotel von der Kette Rezidor Hotel Group unter dem Namen The Regent Berlin betrieben. Es war das erste Hotel in der Firmengeschichte der Four Seasons Hotel Group, das aufgegeben werden musste.

Das Hotel verfügt über 195 Zimmer und 39 Suiten. Die Nutzfläche beträgt 28.000 m². Die Baukosten betrugen 150 Mio. Euro. Der Bau gilt als Paradebeispiel für die Architektur des ehemaligen Direktors für Bauangelegenheiten des Berliner Senats, Hans Stimmann. Für die Außenfassade wurde Travertin verwendet. Die Traufhöhe orientiert sich streng an den umliegenden Gebäuden. Das Restaurant des Hotels Fischers Fritz wurde mit zwei Michelin-Sternen ausgezeichnet.
