Die Frontiers Journal Series ist eine Sammlung wissenschaftlicher Open-Access-Fachzeitschriften, die von der Frontiers Research Foundation, einer Non-Profit-Organisation mit Sitz im schweizerischen Lausanne, herausgegeben wird. Es orientiert sich an der amerikanischen Public Library of Science (PLoS), die 2003 ihre erste Veröffentlichung herausbrachte.

Die Veröffentlichungen sind in dem digitalen PubMed Central (PMC) Archiv der National Institutes of Health (NIH) sowie bei Google Scholar hinterlegt. Der erste Impact Factor für die Frontiers Journals wird für 2011 erwartet.[1]

Die Frontiers Journal Series umfasst überwiegend neurowissenschaftliche Themen. Als zweistufiges System besteht es aus einer Reihe spezialisierter Journale, die nur im Internet veröffentlicht werden und den dazu korrespondierenden übergeordneten Journalen, die auch als Printversion zur Verfügung stehen.
