Gilbert Strang

William Gilbert Strang (* 27. November 1934 in Chicago) ist ein renommierter US-amerikanischer Mathematiker, der Beiträge zur Finite-Elemente-Methode, Variationsrechnung und Wavelet-Analysis leistete. Ferner setzt er sich stark für die mathematische Ausbildung ein, insbesondere durch seine 6 veröffentlichten Bücher zur klassischen Mathematik und eine Monographie.

Strang ist Professor für Mathematik am Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
