John Brendan McCormack

John Brendan McCormack (* 12. August 1935 in Winthrop) ist Altbischof von Manchester.

Leben

Der Erzbischof von Boston, Richard James Kardinal Cushing, weihte ihn am 2. Februar 1960 zum Priester und wurde in den Klerus des Erzbistums Boston inkardiniert. Johannes Paul II. ernannte ihn am 21. November 1995 zum Titularbischof von Cerbali und zum Weihbischof in Boston.

Die Bischofsweihe spendete ihm der Erzbischof von Boston, Bernard Francis Kardinal Law, am 27. Dezember desselben Jahres; Mitkonsekratoren waren William Wakefield Kardinal Baum, Kardinalgroßpönitentiar, und Alfred Clifton Hughes, Bischof von Baton Rouge.

Am 21. Juli 1998 wurde er zum Bischof von Manchester) ernannt und am 22. September desselben Jahres in das Amt eingeführt. Am 19. September 2011 nahm Papst Benedikt XVI. seinen altersbedingten Rücktritt an.
