MET ART ist eine englischsprachige Webseite, die seit 1999 erotische Fotos von ganz oder teilweise nackten Frauen anbietet.[1] Besitzendes Unternehmen ist die HLP General Partners Incorporated mit Sitz im kalifornischen Santa Monica.[2]

Seit Oktober 2008 gehört MET ART laut Alexa Internet zu den 700 am meisten besuchten Webseiten.[3] Das "MET" in "MET ART" stand ursprünglich für "Most Erotic Teens".[4]

Kritiken

Von Rabbits Reviews wurde MET ART erstmals im August 2005 bewertet. Demnach bietet MET ART „die größte [...] und stilvollste Sammlung an [...] Aktkunst“.[5]

Geschichte

Markenklage

Ende 2005 wurde der MET-ART-Eigentümer mit einer Anklage wegen Verletzung einer eingetragenen Marke konfrontiert. Klageführer war die Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (MetLife) aus New York, die Klage wurde vorgebracht bei der WIPO in Genf. Beanstandet wurde die zu große Ähnlichkeit mit den eigenen Markennamen sowie die Gefährdung der Reputation durch die „sexuellen“ Inhalte auf den MET-ART-Seiten. 2006 wurde die Klage von der WIPO zurückgewiesen.[6]
