Preethi Nair

Preethi Nair (* 1971 im indischen Bundesstaat Kerala) ist eine britische Autorin indischer Herkunft.

Sie wurde 1971 im südindischen Bundesstaat Kerala geboren und zog als Kind mit ihrer Familie nach Großbritannien. Sie wurchs in London auf und arbeitete nach ihrer Schulzeit und Ausbildung zuerst als Unternehmensberaterin, bevor sie diese Tätigkeit aufgab, um Schriftstellerin zu werden. Ihr erstes Buch Gypsy Masala wurde von mehreren Verlagen abgelehnt. Daher gründete sie ihren eigenen Verlag und eine PR-Firma namens Nine Fish und brachte ihr Buch selbst heraus. Unter dem Pseudonym Pru Menon wurde sie allmählich bekannt und es gelang ihr, einen Vertrag mit dem US-amerikanischen Verlag HarperCollins abzuschließen.

Für ihr Werk bekam sie den Asian Women Achievement Award und kam in die engere Wahl zur Publizistin des Jahres bei den PPC Awards. Die BBC kaufte die Rechte für eine Verfilmung ihres Romans Koriandergrün und Safranrot. Ihr neuestes Buch heißt Der Duft der Farben und ist eine romanhafte Darstellung ihres Lebens.

Preethi arbeitet für eine Reihe von Zeitungen, für BBC Radio 4 und ist eine Botschafterin des Prince’s Trust, einer Wohltätigkeitsorganisation des Prinzen von Wales. [1]
