Die Success Automobile Manufacturing Company in St. Louis (Missouri) in der De-Ballviere-Avenue 532 war ein US-amerikanischer Automobilhersteller[1].

Geschichte

Zunächst fertigte man einen hochrädrigen Runabout mit 1.575 mm Radstand, der mit einem Verkaufspreis von nur US-$ 250,-- unglaublich billig war[1]. Zum Vergleich: Der Black kostete US-$ 375,-- und der Western Gale Model A US-$ 500,--[1]. Der in Großserie gefertigte Oldsmobile Curved Dash war für US-$ 650,-- zu haben und Fords Doctor’s Car für US-$ 850,--[1].

Dieser Success Modell A hatte einen luftgekühlten Einzylinder-Benzinmotor neben dem rechten Sitz eingebaut, stählerne Radreifen (Gummireifen kosteten US-$ 25,-- Aufpreis), zweistufiges Planetengetriebe und Kettenantrieb zum rechten Hinterrad. Geschwindigkeiten von 4 mph (6,5 km/h) bis 18 mph (29 km/h) waren realisierbar und der Benzinverbrauch lag bei 4,25 l / 100 km[1]. Später kamen weitere Modelle mit Radständen bis zu 2.438 mm dazu, die auch als Surrey oder Lieferwagen angeboten wurden.

Bis 1909 baute die Firma ca. 600 Automobile und vergab auch Lizenzen an andere kleine Automobilhersteller. Dann allerdings musste die Gesellschaft Konkurs anmelden.
