Timothy Keller

Timothy J. Keller (* 1950 in Pennsylvania) ist ein amerikanischer Theologe und Pastor. Er hat die Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, New York, gegründet und ist Autor u.a. des New-York-Times Bestsellers The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism[1] (Nr. 7 im Bereich non-fiction, März 2008[2], deutsch: Warum Gott? Vernünftiger Glaube oder Irrlicht der Menschheit[3]).

Biografie

Keller ist in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, aufgewachsen. Er hat an der Bucknell University (B.A. 1972), am Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (M.Div. 1975) und am Westminster Theological Seminary (D.Min. 1981) Theologie studiert.

Er ist ordinierter Pastor der Presbyterian Church und war neun Jahre Pastor der West Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Virginia. Als außerordentlicher Professor lehrt er Praktische Theologie am Westminster Theological Seminary.[4]

1989 gründete er die Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, deren Gottesdienste regelmäßig von über 5.000 Menschen besucht werden.[5] Die Gemeinde hat inzwischen zahlreiche Tochtergemeinden gegründet und das weltweite, informative Netzwerk Redeemer City to City aufgebaut.
