Der UN-Nothilfekoordinator (engl. Emergency Relief Coordinator, ERC) ist der Koordinator für humanitäre Hilfseinsätze der Vereinten Nationen. Diese Funktion wird vom jeweiligen Direktor des Amtes für die Koordinierung humanitärer Angelegenheiten ausgeübt, dieser ist dann gleichzeitig auch Untergeneralsekretär für humanitäre Angelegenheiten der Vereinten Nationen.
Aufgaben
Die Aufgaben des Nothilfe-Koordinators lassen sich in folgende drei Kernbereiche teilen:
- Entwicklung von Verfahrensweisen und Koordinierungsfunktion um den Generalsekretär der Vereinten Nationen zu unterstützen; sicherstellen dass alle humanitären Belange, inklusive jener welche nicht direkt in die Bereiche vorhandener Institutionen fallen, z. B. Schutz und Unterstützung für innerhalb eines Landes vertriebener Personen, behandelt werden;
- Koordination von humanitären Nothilfeaktionen vor Ort, unter Sicherstellung das angemessene Reaktionsmechanismen installiert werden, auch durch Einbeziehung des Ständigen interinstitutionellen Ausschusses (IASC); dazu auch Stellung eines schnell reagierenden Bewertungsteams (UNDAC) vor Ort.
OCHA
Das Amt für die Koordinierung humanitärer Angelegenheiten (engl. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, OCHA) ist eine Abteilung des UN-Sekretariats.

Aktueller Direktor des OCHA ist Sir John Holmes (Vereinigtes Königreich). Er löste im Januar 2007 Jan Egeland (Norwegen) in diesem Amt ab. Bisherige Direktoren waren:
Budget und Mitarbeiter
Die Kernfunktionen des OCHA werden von über 700 Mitarbeitern in New York, Genf und im Außeneinsatz ausgeübt.
Das Budget für 2004 machte knapp 85 Millionen USD aus. Davon stammten etwa 11 % (ca. 10 Mill. USD) aus dem regulären Budget der Vereinten Nationen; der Rest aus eigenen Budgetmitteln (zur Verfügung gestellt von den Mitgliedstaaten und spendenden Organisationen).
