Gaynes

George Gaynes (* als George Jongejans am 16. Mai 1917 in Helsinki) ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler finnischer Abstammung.

Gaynes Mutter Iya Abdy war eine Schauspielerin. Er trat im Jahr 1953 im Broadway-Musical Wonderful Town auf. Gaynes spielte im Film Verschollen im Weltraum (1969) neben Gregory Peck, Richard Crenna und Gene Hackman, im Film Tootsie (1982) neben Dustin Hoffman, im Film Hexenjagd (1996) neben Daniel Day-Lewis und Winona Ryder. Besonders bekannt machte ihn die Rolle von Eric Lassard in den Filmen der Serie Police Academy. Er war ebenfalls in einigen Fernsehserien wie Search for Tomorrow, Reich & arm II, Küß' mich, John (1992 bis 1993), Matlock, Punky Brewster und Chicago Hope zu sehen.

Gaynes ist seit 1953 mit Allyn Ann McLerie verheiratet und hat zwei Kinder.
