Glendale ist eine Stadt in Maricopa County im US-Bundesstaat Arizona, Vereinigte Staaten, mit 246.531 Einwohnern (Stand: 1. Juli 2006). Das Stadtgebiet hat eine Größe von 144,4 km ². Glendale grenzt im Osten an Phoenix und gehört zum Valley of the Sun, der Metropolregion von Phoenix.

Verkehr

Glendale befindet sich nördlich der Interstate 10, westlich der Interstate 17 und östlich der Arizona State Route 101. Durch die Stadt verläuft außerdem der U.S. Highway 60.

Bildung

Die Stadt ist Sitz der Wirtschaftshochschule „Thunderbird School of Global Management“.

Sport

University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale

Glendale ist in den USA besonders bekannt durch den eigenen NHL-Club „Phoenix Coyotes“. Das im August 2006 fertiggestellten neue „University of Phoenix Stadium“ ist Heimat der Arizona Cardinals. Im Februar 2008 war Glendale der Austragungsort des Super Bowl XLII. Des Weiteren fand Ende März 2010 Wrestlemania XXVI im University Of Phoenix Stadium statt.

Militär

Acht Meilen westlich von Glendale befindet sich die Luke Air Force Base, eine der zentralen Ausbildungsbasen des Air Education and Training Command.
