Kolka (livisch: Kūolka, deutsch: ‚Kolken‘) ist ein Fischerort im Westen Lettlands und nördlichster Punkt der Region Kurland.

Der Ort liegt an der markanten Landspitze Kolkas rags (‚Horn von Kolka‘, ‚Kap Kolka‘, Kap Domesnäs) der Irben-Straße, an der sich die Ostsee und der Rigaer Meerbusen treffen.

Die erste schriftliche Erwähnung Kolkas als bewohnter Ort findet sich zwischen 1384 und 1387 n. Chr. Die Bewohner lebten vom Fischfang sowie dem Ausrauben gestrandeter Schiffe am Kap. In Kolka leben heute letzte Vertreter der livischen Sprache und Kultur. Das Gebiet liegt innerhalb des Slītere Nationalparks.

Verwaltung

Im Gemeindegebiet liegen die Orte Kolka, Vaide, Saunags, Pitrags, Košrags, Mazirbe und Sīkrags. Seit 2009 gehört die Gemeinde zum Dundagas novads. (Siehe auch: Verwaltungsgliederung Lettlands.)
