Mehmed Fuad Köprülü

Mehmet Fuat Köprülü (* 5. Dezember 1890 in Istanbul; † 28. Juni 1966 ebd.) war ein türkischer Historiker und Politiker.

Er stammte aus der prominenten Köprülü Familie und wurde deshalb auch Köprülüzade genannt. Er war bekannt für seine Beiträge zur Geschichte des Osmanischen Reiches, zur türkischen Folklore und zur türkischen Sprache.

Als Mitglied der Demokrat Parti diente er in der Regierung von Adnan Menderes als Außenminister von 1950 bis 1956 und kurz als stellvertretender Ministerpräsident 1956.

Als Historiker beschäftigte er sich mit dem „Ursprung des Osmanischen Reiches“ und schrieb über „Die Seldschuken von Anatolien. Ihre Geschichte und Kultur entsprechend lokalen moslemischen Quellen“ und „Islam in Anatolien nach der türkischen Invasion.
