Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome

Multiorganversagen (MOV; auch: MODS: Multi organ dysfunction syndrome; MOF: Multi organ failure) bezeichnet das gleichzeitige oder sequentielle Versagen oder die schwere Funktionseinschränkung verschiedener lebenswichtiger Organsysteme des Körpers.

Die Bezeichnung MOV gilt in Fachkreisen inzwischen als veraltet und wurde durch MODS ersetzt. (ACCP-SCCM-Consensus-Conference, Chicago 1992)

Ursache

Ein MOV kann die Folge einer Vielzahl von krankhaften Veränderungen des Körpers sein; häufig kommt es bei einer Sepsis, polytraumatisierten Patienten oder bei dekompensierten internistischen Krankheitsbildern wie Herzinsuffizienz oder in Folge einer ausgeprägten allergischen Reaktion (Anaphylaktischer Schock) zu einem MOV.

Behandlung

Die Behandlung des MOV ist im Regelfall mit der Aufnahme auf einer Intensivstation verbunden, da es sich hierbei um einen lebensbedrohlichen Zustand handelt. In der Intensivmedizin gibt es Verfahren, um die Funktion ausgefallener Organe zu unterstützen oder ganz zu ersetzen (z. B. Beatmung, Dialyse, Kreislaufunterstützung durch Medikamente etc.); dennoch ist ein MOV noch mit einer sehr hohen Letalität verbunden.
