Ralph Bellamy

Ralph Bellamy (* 17. Juni 1904 in Chicago; † 29. November 1991 in Santa Monica) war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler.

Bellamy war in den USA ein sehr beliebter Schauspieler. Seine Karriere umspannte fast sechzig Jahre. In jungen Jahren spielte er in Liebeskomödien oft den Rivalen von Stars wie Cary Grant. Als älterer Schauspieler war er dann in respektablen Nebenrollen zu sehen. Seinen letzten Auftritt hatte er 1990 in der Filmkomödie Pretty Woman als Werftbesitzer James „Jim“ Morse.

Seinen größten Erfolg feierte er mit der Verkörperung des amerikanischen Präsidenten Franklin Delano Roosevelt in dem Theaterstück Sunrise at Campobello von Dore Schary. Hierfür erhielt er 1958 einen Tony Award und spielte die Rolle 1960 auch in der Verfilmung.

1987 erhielt Ralph Bellamy einen Ehrenoscar für sein Lebenswerk.
