Robert Audi

Robert Audi (* November 1941) ist ein analytischer Philosoph, der zu Themen der Ethik und praktischen, besonders politischen Philosophie (etwa zum Verhältnis von Kirche und Staat) sowie der Erkenntnistheorie, der Philosophie des Geistes und der Sozialwissenschaften und der Religion arbeitet.

Er lehrt in Notre Dame und ist dem Department für Wirtschaftsethik kooptiert. Sein 2005 erschienenes Buch The Good in the Right erneuert einen intuitionistischen Ansatz der Ethik und entwickelt eine Erkenntnistheorie ethischer Wahrheiten.

Seinen PhD erwarb Audi an der University of Michigan. Er lehrte kurze Zeit an der University of Texas at Austin und einige Jahre an der University of Nebraska, Lincoln, bevor er nach Notre Dame kam.

Bekannt ist er auch durch die Herausgabe des Cambridge Dictionary of Philosophy (erste Aufl. 1995, zweite 1999). Ferner gibt er die „Modern Readings in Epistemology“ und „Modern readings in Metaphysics“ heraus.
