Sleepover

Eine Pyjama-Party (engl. Slumber Party, Pajama Party) ist ein besonderer Typ einer Party, bei der die Gäste eingeladen werden, im Gastgeberhaus zu übernachten.

Am stärksten verbreitet sind Pyjama-Partys in den Vereinigten Staaten, wo die Siedlungsdichte so gering ist, dass der Besuch z. B. einer Geburtstagsparty fast immer eine mehr oder weniger lange Autofahrt voraussetzt. Sehr beliebt sind bei amerikanischen Kindern auch Sleepovers, d. h. Spielverabredungen (Play Dates) mit anschließendem gemeinsamem Übernachten. Sowohl Pyjama-Partys als auch Sleepovers sind in den USA fast rein weibliche Einrichtungen.

In Großbritannien und in Australien werden Pyjama-Partys beispielsweise für Pfadfinder veranstaltet. Meist sind die Teilnehmer an solchen Partys Kinder oder weibliche Erwachsene, nur selten Männer.

In Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz sind Pyjama-Partys kaum verbreitet bis völlig unbekannt. Hier sind ähnliche Partys als Kinderparty, Kindergeburtstag oder Kostümball bekannt.
