EFG Eurobank Ergasias

Die EFG Eurobank Ergasias ist die drittgrößte Bank Griechenlands mit Sitz in Athen und gehört mehrheitlich dem Unternehmer Spiros Latsis. Den heutigen Namen trägt die Bank nach der Übernahme der Ergasias Bank im Jahr 2000.

Die Bank hat 24.500 Angestellte und ist bis auf Griechenland vornehmlich in Südosteuropa und der Türkei aktiv. Im August 2011 wurde bekannt, dass Fusionsverhandlungen mit der Alpha Bank laufen.

Fusion mit der Alpha Bank

Am 29. August 2011 kündigten die Alpha Bank und die EFG Eurobank Ergasias ihren Zusammenschluss an, welcher mittels eines Aktientausches vollzogen wird. Im Rahmen der Fusion wird sich das Emirat Katar an einer Kapitalerhöhung von 1,25 Milliarden Euro beteiligen, und eine Wandelanleihe von 500 Millionen Euro voll zeichnen. Das Emirat werde mit einem Anteil von 17 Prozent Großaktionär der fusionierten Bank. Die neu entstehende Bank wird die größte Griechenlands sein, und löst somit die National Bank of Greece ab.[1]
