Faustino Sainz Muñoz (* 5. Juni 1937 in Almadén, Provinz Ciudad Real, Spanien) ist ein ehemaliger Diplomat des Heiligen Stuhls.

Leben

Faustino Sainz Muñoz empfing am 19. Dezember 1964 die Priesterweihe.

Papst Johannes Paul II. ernannte ihn am 29. Oktober 1988 zum Titularerzbischof von Novaliciana und zum Apostolischen Pro-Nuntius in Kuba. Die Bischofsweihe spendete ihm Kardinalstaatssekretär Agostino Casaroli, am 18. Dezember desselben Jahres; Mitkonsekratoren waren Kurienerzbischof Maximino Romero de Lema und Angel Kardinal Suquía Goicoechea, Erzbischof von Madrid.

Am 7. Oktober 1992 berief ihn Johannes Paul II. zum Apostolischen Nuntius in Zaire und am 21. Januar 1999 zum Apostolischen Nuntius in der Europäische Union. Am 11. Dezember 2004 wurde er zum Apostolischen Nuntius im Vereinigten Königreich ernannt.

Am 5. Dezember 2010 nahm Papst Benedikt XVI. sein aus gesundheitlichen Gründen vorgebrachtes Rücktrittsgesuch an.
