Fertile Ground ist ein US-amerikanischer Horrorfilm/Thriller aus dem Jahre 2011; in den Hauptrollen mit Leisha Hailey und Gale Harold besetzt. Regie führte Adam Gierasch, der auch zusammen mit Jace Anderson das Drehbuch zum Film schrieb; ausführende Produzenten waren Moshe Diamant sowie Courtney Solomon. In den USA erschien der Film bereits am 28. Januar 2011; in Deutschland wird dies erst am 14. Oktober der Fall sein.

Handlung

Geschockt von einer weiteren traumatisierenden Fehlgeburt nach vielen, zieht das junge verheiratete Paar Nate und Emily Weaver von der Stadt aufs Land nach New Hampshire, wo Nates altes Familienhaus aus dem 19. Jahrhundert noch steht und sie beschließen, dass dies ihre neue Bleibe sein wird, um den schrecklichen Verlust verarbeiten und gemeinsam ein neues Leben beginnen zu können. Doch schon bald zerbröckelt die Fassade des Traums, als die beiden bemerken, dass das Haus zwar von außen schön aussehen mag, doch innen ein furchtbares Geheimnis birgt – es ist verflucht!

Dann wird Emily erneut schwanger, doch auch dieses Glück kann ihr nicht lange erhalten bleiben, als Nate und sie von höchst beunruhigenden Visionen heimgesucht werden und Emily böswilligen Wesen aus der dunklen Vergangenheit ihres Mannes begegnet, welche Besitz von Nate ergreifen. Und dies ist noch längst nicht alles, denn dann geschieht zu allem Übel noch ein tödlicher Zwischenfall...
