Jean-Baptiste Pallegoix (1805-1862)

Jean-Baptiste Pallegoix (* 24. Oktober 1805 in Combertault, Frankreich; † 18. Juni 1862 in Bangkok) war ein französischer Apostolischer Vikar in Ost-Thailand („Siam Orientale“, heute Erzbistum Bangkok).

Pallegoix wurde am 31. Mai 1828 als Priester der Société des Missions Étrangères geweiht. Am 3. Juni 1838 wurde er zum Koadjutor des Apostolischen Vikars in Siam und Titularbischof von Mallus ernannt. Die Weihe nahm Bischof Jean Paul Hilaire Michel Courvezy vor[1], der Apostolischer Vikar von Siam war. Am 10. September 1841 wurde Pallegoix dessen Nachfolger.

Pallegoix wurde von König Mongkut (Rama IV.) hoch geschätzt, und beide tauschten zahlreiche Probleme und Themen miteinander aus. Der König assistierte sogar bei der Grablegung Pallegoix'.
