Out of Style ist das dritte Studioalbum der finnischen Rock-Band Sunrise Avenue. Es erschien am 23. März 2011 in Finnland und zwei Tage später auch in Deutschland.

Produktion und Songs

Das Album wurde in Helsinki, Stockholm, Paris, Tokio und Los Angeles aufgenommen.[1]

Es wechseln sich Balladen mit Piano-Soli (Somebody Help Me) mit schnelleren Titeln (Hollywood Hills) ab. Als erste Singleauskopplung wurde am 21. Januar 2011 Hollywood Hills veröffentlicht. Der Song erreichte im deutschsprachigen Raum ähnlich hohe Chartplatzierungen wie ihr bisher erfolgreichster Hit Fairytale Gone Bad aus dem Jahr 2006. Am 12. August 2011 wurde die zweite Single I Don't Dance veröffentlicht.

Rezensionen

laut.de bescheinigte Sunrise Avenue ein solides Album. Hollywood Hills taugt vorzüglich als Paradebeispiel für einen Großteil der Platte. Die gleichermaßen in Pop und Rock beheimatete Hymne über verlorene Träume in der Endstation Sehnsucht bietet Tempo und druckvolle E-Gitarren. Die musikalische Marschrichtung halte sich an die bewährten Vorgaben. Insgesamt sei Out of Style ein ohrenfreundlich gestalteter Longplayer, der Fans harter Klänge zwiespältig zurücklässt.[2]

shitesite.de gibt dem Album eine deutlich schlechtere Bewertung: So sei Hollywood Hills ein Schlager mit E-Gitarre. Insgesamt sei Sunrise Avenue kein bisschen cool, die Musik finnisch und unsagbar provinziell. Die Seite vergleicht die Band mit Rock-Todsünden wie The Rasmus und HIM: Auch Samu Haber, Leadsänger und Chef-Songwriter von Sunrise Avenue, neigt zu Pseudo-Düsternis, großer Theatralik und weinerlichen Texten, die selbst für den durchschnittlichen Bravo-Leser zu banal sein dürften.[3]
