Private Bank

Eine private Bank ist eine Bank, deren Eigentümer nicht die Öffentliche Hand (Sparkassen, Landesbanken und Förderbanken) ist und die auch nicht als Genossenschaftsbank (Volksbanken, Raiffeisenbanken) organisiert ist. Sie bilden in Deutschland die dritte Säule im Drei-Säulen-Modell. Die Gruppe der privaten Banken besteht in Deutschland aus den Großbanken, den Regionalbanken, den Auslandsbanken und den Privatbanken. Die ca. 230 privaten Banken in Deutschland sind im Bundesverband deutscher Banken (BDB) zusammengeschlossen.

Bedeutung

Die privaten Banken stellen in Deutschland das kleinste Bankensegment dar. Marktführer sind die öffentlichen Banken mit einem Marktanteil von mehr als 50 %, es folgen die genossenschaftlichen Institute mit einem Marktanteil von fast einem Drittel. Der Rest verteilt sich auf die privaten Banken, wobei die Großbanken hiervon einen Großteil abdecken.
