Das Stuttgart Institute of Management and Technology (SIMT) wurde 1998 auf Initiative einiger großer, international operierender Unternehmen mit Sitz im Raum Stuttgart gegründet (beispielsweise Bosch, Daimler, Hewlett-Packard, Siemens oder Trumpf) sowie den Universitäten Stuttgart, Hohenheim und Tübingen. Im Frühjahr 2007 übernahm die Steinbeis-Gruppe des akademischen Mutli-Unternehmers Johann Löhn aus Stuttgart für einen symbolischen Euro die Führung. [1] Das SIMT gehört seither zur Steinbeis University Berlin.

Unter dem Dach der Steinbeis-Hochschule Berlin (Steinbeis University Berlin (SHB)) bietet das Institut in Stuttgart verschiedene Studiengänge und diverse Weiterbildungsmöglichkeiten an - darunter MBA-/ und ein Executive MBA-Programm(e). Im Fokus aller Studiengänge steht die Orientierung an einer für Steinbeis-Programme charakteristischen Verbindung von Theorie und Praxis: Management-Praxis, deren Fundament ein solides theoretisches Basiswissen bildet. Daneben werden sogenannte "Management Development Programme for middle and upper level managers“ angeboten.[2]
