Australien existiert erst seit etwas über 100 Jahren als eigenständige Nation und die australische Literatur ist somit noch relativ jung. Die meisten australischen Schriftsteller sind in Deutschland weitgehend unbekannt, auch wenn der Schriftsteller Patrick White Nobelpreisträger war.
