Michael Harner

Michael Harner (* 27. April 1929 in Washington D. C., USA) ist ein Anthropologe und Schamanismusforscher, sowie Gründer und Präsident der Foundation for Shamanic Studies mit Sitz in Mill Valley, Kalifornien.

Leben

Während seiner Feldarbeit bei den Shuar, den Conibo und anderen indigenen Völkern am Oberen Amazonas in den frühen Sechzigerjahren wurde Harner in den Schamanismus initiiert. Er war der Begründer der gegenwärtigen Schamanismus-Renaissance („Neoschamanismus“) im Westen und lehrt weltweit Schamanismus und schamanisches Heilen.

Die Essenz seiner vergleichenden Studien bezeichnet er als Core-Schamanismus und bietet einen eigenen Ansatz im Umgang mit Schamanismus und seinen Techniken. Darüber hinaus ist Harner Gründer und Leiter der Foundation for Shamanic Studies (FSS), die sich vor allem der weltweiten Bewahrung, der weiteren Erforschung und der Verbreitung des schamanistischen Wissens widmet.
