Molteno liegt ca. 11 km südwestlich der Provinzhauptstadt Lecco und 35 km nordöstlich der Millionen-Metropole Mailand.
Die Nachbargemeinden sind Annone di Brianza, Bosisio Parini, Costa Masnaga, Garbagnate Monastero, Oggiono, Rogeno und Sirone.
