Stefan Mazurkiewicz

Stefan Mazurkiewicz (* 25. September 1888 in Warschau; † 19. Juni 1945 in Grodzisk Mazowiecki) war ein polnischer Mathematiker der Warschauer Mathematikerschule. Schwerpunkte seiner Arbeit waren Analysis, Topologie und Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie.

Er studierte Mathematik bei Wacław Sierpiński, wurde 1917 Mitglied der Polska Akademia Umiejętności, 1919 Professor der Warschauer Universität und 1922 Mitglied der Polska Akademia Nauk. Er war, zusammen mit Wacław Sierpiński und Zygmunt Janiszewski, der Begründer der Zeitschrift Fundamenta Mathematicae.
