Thomas George Montgomerie (* 1830; † 1878) war ein britischer Vermessungsingenieur. Er nahm am der Vermessung Indiens in den 1850er Jahren teil. Im Karakorum nummerierte er die markanten Gipfel von Westen aus durch und versah sie mit dem Präfix K (für „Karakorum“). Der zweithöchste Berg der Erde, der K2, trägt als einziger Gipfel immer noch diesen provisorischen Namen. Obwohl Montgomeries Vermessungen mit recht einfachen Mitteln und aus zum Teil erheblicher Entfernung durchgeführt wurden, stimmen seine Höhenangaben relativ exakt mit den heute akzeptierten überein.
Nach der Vermessung Indiens führte er sein Werk mit der Kartierung Tibets fort. Da Tibet jedoch nicht zum Britischen Empire gehörte und für Ausländer gesperrt war, bildete er Inder aus, die als reisende Tibeter getarnt, diese Messungen durchführten.
